MUSIC, MY LIFE & MORE... |
|
![]() My second year in Atlanta can be summed up by this statement. I’ve employed quite a few djs and musicians. I remain under referenced. They will say that Chicago (transplants in general) has a clique. It’s because we have to build amongst ourselves. Very few reach out to incorporate transplants. The natives CAN highly benefit from what you bring for them, BUT collabs with equal vigor I have only see from transplants yet. There’s also another theme growing but I digress … #findingfathomdj mrchrisclassic… the resilience of Atlanta was a magnet for creatives and entrepreneurs. 3 years ago there was this “we full” attitude that was goin around- instead of “move here and vote here and grow here, shutup and build here”. Atlanta is such a dope city that is really at a scary crossroad. But if the natives dont start involving the transplants (that have the proper respect for existing culture) HOW can the new ideas evolve? I came here 5 years ago and learned to appreciate Atlanta is NOT New York. Its different. its BETTER for ME and MY goals. So i poured into people and their businesses with a ton of respect. I was welcomed with open arms by many. But some are stuck on VH1 E! Atlanta .. and umm.. that was a moment.. in time… that we need to learn from and build from. The stakes have changed. Atlanta should be on the WORLD stage. Please think bigger and seek out the new energy thats positive and build NEW industries here. The younger 20-25 generation WANTS to do it but they see the old heads as stubborn. I have a gut theory about Atlanta I will share in my stories but please, reconsider your goals and work with us transplants. Not ALL of us have a chip on our shoulders.
