Saturday night I got the opportunity to catch Glenn Underground and Boo Williams spin The Boiler Room at Smart Bar here in Chicago (via fblive). I was very proud of both of them I normally am, when people (from Chicago) preach the gospel through sound reach these heights. I was also reminded of a blog entry I posted a few years back. Last night I couldn't sleep because I was so inspired and full of wonder. I don't know that many djs who spin these particular genres ( in Chicago) would be able to, based on understanding how WE seem work. I think I've stated several times in different sm spaces that Chicago breeds djs. We also breed haters. Of course, this is based on the idea that some continue to push further while other get distracted with a term I hear more than not these days, life. I'm hoping that everyone who heard and or saw them play are just as inspired, though I know the hater bandwagon is more overloaded than not. The question shouldn't be why not me, but HOW for them. I have had SOME interaction with both of these folk, BOO very recently. Without setting up official interviews, the thought that comes to mind is consistency. I went to the same high school with Glenn and have known Boo for a lengthy period as well. I've never known them to NOT rock well and CRAFT excellent music. They also roll hard together, which speaks to the law of attraction and like minds. I've been privied to a few other spaces with producers named in my earlier post, and know first hand of the rivalry that lives amongst these types of  talent. So you understand the fire that has to be fueled based on the outer rings of folk, who also do what they do.(though on different scales) I know a few things for sure that both Glenn and Boo killed their BR sets AND upped the level of light for Chicago dj and producers alike. The question is what's next? Do you pull out and blow dust off the tracks you've been tinkering with and upload them to soundcloud, create a new mix, or stomp around like Darrius said to Nina in Love Jones,"acting like someone stole your fucking bike"? I'm choosing to tap into the energy I got last night while sitting in my car glued to my fon. Being encouraged and inspired by their movements and lighting more fire under my own ass.
