Healing and spaces for The Creatives..

In the last week I have been in the presence of a few magical not for profit organizations, who are pushing forward to create, teach and heal.

The Revolving Door Arts Organization spearheaded by Jennifer Steele, is using the power of Literary Arts to further the aspiring wordsmiths. February 4th was the first (after a hiatus) of their reading series set to bring creatives together. The mission is to celebrate the works of Chicagos many great writers. I was so excited to once again play tunes for these creatives. While playing, I was reminded of how inspiring listening to the features intros and works is for me. I'm standing there listening and digging through my music to marry unique songs to each poet.  Magic was most certainly made sparking not only new concepts but connections for all who attended. Please feel free to go to Revolving Door Arts website and see what they are doing for the aspiring literary community.

Ayodele Drum and Dance is a female drum and dance not for profit organization, that teaches (all ages) African culture through drum and dance class and performance. When they asked me to be a part of their dj drum circle at the Chicago Cultural Center,  of course I was down for the work out. And work out everyone who came did! Deep and afro house were the selection played accompanied lead the way to a release that was the breath of fresh air needed for the mid week. They have a residency at the cultural center for the next 3 months on Sundays and Wednesdays. For more information on them and the schedule for the cultural center visit there site Ayodele Drum and Dance.

Our world is in a very interesting place. We are being confronted with so many things that are intentional in keeping our spirits from soaring. This is when the creatives are MOST necessary.
Groups of creative minds are seeking  places, to simply be one with their ideas, actions and others seeking the same. I find these two groups are more than worthy of supporting as they seek to create this kind of connectivity.

The truth is, I admire people behind Ayodele Drum and Dance because they have a lot of musical programs for people who want to learn the African culture through their own music! I am happy to see that there are thousands of nome-profit organizations full of determined people to inspire other through the craft that they know. Not all people can have such a huge heart, so we must be all thankful for that! There are still selfless people who are willing to exert effort fro a matter like this.

    fathom spits

when i come to the jam
    know who i am
    aint bout the flim flam
no i dont give a damn
    about where you been
    or what you rocking
    when the tunes hit
    we'll see whats popping
    not stopping
    though i did slow up
    to be more precise
    and detailed
    catch a close up
    or maybe get a glimpse
    nobodies hoe
     but the game got pimps
    i stay exempt
    and stand in the light
    fame got glimmer
    but my glow just right
